Bringing Sustainable AI to Robotics: SustainML at ERF 2026

  • 23-27 March 2026
  • Venue: Stavenger Forum
  • Location: Stavanger, Norway

eProsima will participate in the European Robotics Forum (ERF) 2026, one of Europe’s leading events in robotics and artificial intelligence, bringing together key players from research, industry, and innovation.

SustainML aims to support the development of AI systems that are not only powerful but also optimized in terms of energy consumption, computational cost, and deployment efficiency. At ERF 2026, these results will be showcased as part of eProsima’s broader vision of enabling more sustainable and scalable AI-driven technologies.

A key highlight of eProsima’s participation will be a live demonstration featuring Vulcanbot 01, an AI-powered mobile robot designed for human interaction and experimentation. Built on ROS 2 and Vulcanexus, Vulcanbot provides a flexible and open platform where advanced AI capabilities can be integrated and tested in real-world environments.

Vulcanbot 01 combines multiple intelligent features, including autonomous navigation, voice interaction powered by large language models, and human pose and gesture recognition. The robot can detect nearby users, initiate interactions, and respond to spoken commands, creating a natural and intuitive user experience.

During the demonstration, Vulcanbot will interact with visitors in real time, executing tasks such as movement control, environment understanding, and dynamic response generation. Through its connection with AI backends, the robot is capable of generating action plans on the fly, showcasing how modern AI can be seamlessly embedded into robotic platforms.

This demonstration also reflects the growing importance of efficient and resource-aware AI integration. By leveraging more optimized processing strategies and modular architectures, systems like Vulcanbot illustrate how advanced intelligence can be delivered while maintaining a focus on performance and efficiency, principles aligned with the goals of SustainML.

Through its participation in ERF 2026, eProsima will highlight how the results of SustainML can be translated into practical applications, bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world robotics. The combination of innovative technologies and live demonstrations offers a clear view of how sustainable AI is shaping the next generation of intelligent robotic systems.
